Adrianne Hughes – 3rd Grade Teacher

What a privilege to be a part of TCCA! It is wonderful to be a part of the work God is doing with the children of TCCA. I graduated from Pensacola Christian College with both a Bachelor and Master degree in Education. During my years of teaching I have been blessed to teach Kindergarten, 3rd grade, 4rd grade, and lots of extras like music, choir, and drama.

I am excited to see what the Lord will do next through TCCA. We are in for a great year! “For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.” Psalm 135:5

Alba Jefferson – Spanish & French Teacher

I come from Caracas, Venezuela, a beautiful country in South America. I had the great opportunity to study languages and literature in one of the most prestigious colleges in Latin America, Universidad Metropolitana. With more than 30 years teaching Spanish, French, and ESL, I have been teaching in Aiken for 12 years and I love it. My students have been been wonderful and enjoy learning Spanish! I am married to Ronald Jefferson, a wonderful Georgia man. I am a proud mother of two adorable daughters who are already married.

As a foreign language teacher, I think that the first stages of language acquisition require rich auditory, verbal, visual, kinetics, tactile, musical, learning experiences. Therefore, I expose my students to the new vocabulary through flash cards, songs and rhymes, story telling, spelling games, interactive activities, the cultural aspects of the language, and much more. In this way, their communicative proficiency is developed by listening, speaking, reading, and writing so they build fluency in the foreign language. I am excited to be joining Town Creek Christian Academy’s team, to offer a well-rounded education at all levels!

Christine Hunt – 5K Teacher

I’m so excited to be the 5K teacher at TCCA. I have homeschooled my children for seven years and have taught 4K for two years. I am so blessed to be able to do what God has called me to do in an amazing Christian environment! My husband, Grant, and I have 3 children that are truly a blessing to our family! I am looking forward to teaching the children and showing them how to let their light shine for Jesus. My life verse is Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men , that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.”

Denise Flores – 1st Grade Teacher

Denise is a native of Savannah, GA and spent over 30 years in Texas. There she taught in Christian schools and successfully home schooled her youngest daughter who now is a student at the University of Texas San Antonio. She has resided in Aiken the last seven years. Denise likes to read, travel and loves photography and birding. She is passionate about her walk with Christ and hopes to instill this same love of Christ and the word of God in her students. She believes a solid education and grounding in the Word of God is necessary for a child’s success in this life. One of her favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 43:1-3 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, For I am the Lord your God.”

Dana Foster – Upper School Science

I am beyond blessed to be starting this new experience. My bachelor’s degree is in Elementary Education, and I have been teaching language arts, math and science to sixth graders at Kennedy Middle School for over a decade. I am passionate about science, sports, and anything creative! My experience working with a variety of students helps me teach these individuals learn in a way that works for them. The most exciting factor for me working with everyone at the Town Creek Christian Academy is that I get to share my faith in an environment that encourages me to share my love for Christ. I now can truly live up to my favorite Bible verse even in my workplace: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil. 4:13. On a personal note, my husband, Scott, and I have been married for 27 years. We have two daughters and a son, and we have been members of Town Creek Baptist for over 15 years. When thinking of my family’s experience at Town Creek and the direction the church and school are currently going, I cannot contain my joy for joining this amazing group of professionals!

Garratt Jeffery – Biblical Studies

Originally from California, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University in 2012 and have lived in Aiken for 3 ½ years. I have been married to my lovely wife Melissa for 11 years and have three beautiful daughters who will be attending TCCA. I have the privilege of teaching Biblical Studies and history for both middle school and high school.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (NKJV) This could be my life verse. Although my life has taken many detours over the years, the training I had from my church, my parents, and my few years in Christian schools gave me the foundations necessary to keep me anchored in my faith. The NLT uses the word “Direct” and the Message uses “Point”. All three words imply an active participation by the instructor. Whether a pastor, teacher, or parent, all must be active in the instruction of our children to seek, grow in, serve, and share Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 3:1-2 says, “My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.” (NKJV, emphasis mine). More than ever, we need God’s peace in this troubled world. We will receive this only when we keep His commands. To know His commands, we must study His Word and learn to see our lives through the lens of a Biblical Worldview.

I look forward to spending the next year instructing your children in this.

Judy Eisenstat – Art Teacher

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. For the last 10 years, I have worked for the Aiken County School System. My husband Paul and I have been members of Town Creek Baptist Church for over 20 years, and we have two adult children. Our daughter is a business administrator and our son is in his second year of residency at the University of Virginia. I am excited to share my love of the Lord with the students and staff of TCCA. The arts are an important part of worship. We are blessed to have this opportunity to teach these precious children of God.

Kiri Flakes – Upper School English

I am originally from Camden, SC, but moved to Aiken for college. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in English from USCA in 2010. Currently, I live in North Augusta with my husband, Derrick. We have been married for almost four years, and we attend Victory Baptist College several nights a week for classes. Before coming to TCCA last year, I served our community as a 911 emergency dispatcher.

Transitioning to the classroom has been a blessing to me, and I enjoy sharing my passion for Jesus, literature, and writing with my students. My greatest joy this year has been seeing my students realize that their abilities are much greater than they ever knew. I am grateful that God has chosen me to teach them. I am watching them grow in their knowledge, confidence, and character daily, and I could not be prouder. TCCA is not just another school. We have created a whole culture here devoted to serving God in everything we do, and I am honored to be a part of it. GO LIONS!

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Melody Salas has been both a Christian educator and a church music coordinator. She is excited about the privilege God has provided for her to blend her training and experience in the role of Music Teacher at TCCA. She has been involved in church music as a pianist, vocalist, worship coordinator and choir director for over 25 years.

Melody and her husband, Orin, have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. In addition to music, her hobbies include exercise, cooking, decorating and traveling. “I will sing and make music with all my soul.” Psalm 108:1

Shelley Stone – 4th Grade Teacher

I graduated from USC-Aiken with my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education in 2005, and in 2012 I received my Master’s in Educational Technology. We also have two dogs, Lucy and Desi. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, and traveling. Town Creek Christian Academy is already an answered prayer for many, including myself. The Lord’s hand has been and will continue working in this school, in the faculty and staff, in the students, and in the community. As Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” TCCA is a work of God, and there are many good things happening here!

Most recently, I worked 3 years as a corporate trainer with a local bank, but am looking forward to returning to the classroom, having previously taught middle school math and social studies in Aiken County Public Schools for 3 years.
